The intern works in Geneva, Switzerland, and answers to the Human Rights Officer in their assigned work unit. They are supervised by the Chief of Section. The internship will last for three months at first and can be extended for a total of six months with the supervisor’s agreement. It is expected to start in the first quarter of next year.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is part of the UN’s Secretariat and is in charge of strengthening international human rights mechanisms, promoting equality and fighting discrimination, ending impunity and making sure people are held accountable, expanding democracy, protecting human rights during times of conflict, and preventing and responding to violations of human rights.
