H-1B Cap Registration Period Extended – USA Visa

The initial registration period for the H-1B cap for fiscal year (FY) has been extended by USCIS. The initial registration period, which was originally scheduled to run from noon Eastern to noon Eastern, will now conclude. Due to the transient system outage that some registrants have encountered, USCIS is extending the registration period to provide additional time.

During this time frame, potential petitioners and their representatives, if applicable, are required to electronically register each beneficiary for the selection process through a USCIS online account and remit the corresponding registration fee for each beneficiary. USCIS still intends to notify selected registrants.

USCIS introduced new myUSCIS organizational accounts. These accounts enable legal representatives and multiple members of an organization to work together in the preparation of H-1B registrations, H-1B petitions, and any Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service, that may be associated with them.

To partake in the H-1B Electronic Registration Process, a fresh organizational account is mandatory. The service facilities of USCIS will cease accepting Form I-129 petitions requesting H-1B or H-1B1 (HSC) classification.

Petitioners for H-1B or H-1B1 (HSC) status that are received at a USCIS service center on, will be denied. No provision for a grace period will be made.

All paper-filed Form I-129 petitions requesting H-1B1 (HSC) or H-1B classification must be submitted at a USCIS lockbox facility beginning. This includes petitions that are concurrently filed with Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service, Form I-539, and Form I-765.

When filing Form I-907 or Form I-129 alone, an online submission option is also available. USCIS will initiate online submission of Form I-129 and Form I-907 for non-cap H-1B petitions.

USCIS will commence accepting online petitions for the H-1B limitation and Forms I-907 for petitioners whose registrations have been approved. The lockbox filing addresses for paper-filed forms will be made available via web alert and our Form I-129 Direct Filing Addresses page.

Before proceeding with the submission of H-1B cap-subject petitions, prospective petitioners are required to electronically register and remit the $10 H-1B registration fee for each prospective beneficiary, including those who qualify for the advanced degree exemption.
